Angel is the English translation for the Greek word “Aggelos” meaning messenger or one sent. The Angels are said to be messengers of God, the Divine. Many people believe that they are here to help guide us, to heal and protect us. Some Angels may even show themselves to us when deemed necessary.

Angels are thought to exist in the Heavenly Realms, but we do not know for sure.

It is not known precisely where angels dwell – whether in the air, the void, or the planets. It has not been God’s pleasure that we should be informed of their abode. – Voltaire

Each religion or spiritual practice has its own belief about Angels. Even if you do not follow a religion, beliefs are very powerful. The belief in Angels or other Spiritual Beings is not limited to one or the other, nor is one more right than the other. When you read below you will discover that each religion has its similarity in their beliefs about the Angels.

The Christian religion believes that Angels were created by God during the 7 days of creation and that they were all created at once. They can not die nor be born, therefore their number eternally remains the same. The religion also teaches that Angels have no physical form, but can take on the form of men when permitted to do so by God’s Will.

The Buddhists believe in what they call the ‘Devas’. This term is used to encompass Gods, Angels or “unseen beings”. However, there are many differences between the Buddhist Devas and the Christian Angels. The Buddhists believe that the deva’s lead a more sensual existence, living with great power, happiness and wealth. They do not bother with the realm of Humans. Unlike the Christian belief, Deva’s are mortal and eventually die, with only the privileged being re-born into one of the other realms of existence.

In Hinduism they believe in Deva’s as well, believing that they are beings who do angelic acts, helping Humanity and the World. They believe that each living being has a Deva with them, (male) or Devi (female) to help guide them towards Universal Understanding so that they may become One with All that Exists. There is no separation between God and Angel for both are emanating the same light.[/box]

The Islamic religion believes that Angels were created by Allah, and were created from light. They too believe that the Angels do not have free will and can not disobey God. Because they were created by Allah and are not God, they are not worshipped by followers.

In Catholicism, they believe that Angels are pure spirits created by God. Although there is nothing mentioned in Catholic scripture of when they were created, it is assumed that it was in the first days of creation. The Catholic Faith adheres to a belief in the 9 orders or choirs of Angels; Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels, and Angels. There are many similarities between the Catholic and Protestant beliefs about Angels, but like with any belief, there are differences.

Whatever your belief, it seems that Angels are here to serve as messengers between God and Humanity. Many people believe that their message is to help Humanity understand Unconditional Love, God Love, and their connection to All-There-Is.  All of us here at believe they are here to help heal humanity so that this connection can be realized.
