Karuna Reiki

[K]aruna Reiki was developed by William Lee Rand, the founder and President of the International Center for ReikiTraining. Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Buddhism and Hinduism, meaning “Compassion” or “The Universal Compassion of a Bodhisattva”. It is used to dimish the suffering of others by any means possible.

Karuna Reiki is said to connect you with the Enlightened Beings that are endlessly working to heal all living beings and to end suffering on Earth. When you begin practicing Karuna Reiki you become more open to these Beings, and can work along with them in order to heal.

¨When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one. Therefore, it is natural to extend compassionate action or Karuna to everyone without distinction because we are all one. As we help others and aid them in their healing process, all beings benefit. Because of the oneness of all beings, it is understood that Karuna is not only extended to others out of love, but also because it is an entirely logical thing to do.

In the same way that you would want to heal your own wounds, you would also want the wounds of others to heal. It is also stated in the Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by parjna or wisdom in order to have the right effect.¨ – William Lee Rand.

It is a belief shared by many that our time spent here on earth is to cultivate this compassion and to heal others and ourselves. Each day is a gift that we are given to learn to love one another unconditionally, and to help heal each other without question.
